Our History

2022

Community Support and Information, Ross-Shire started life as Ross and Cromarty Council of Voluntary Service in 1971, the organisation was created to support community organisations in the area. Originally situated in the centre of Dingwall, the organisation supported organisations in Mid, Easter and Wester Ross. Some years later the organisation moved to Thorfin House in Bridgend Industrial Estate, sharing offices with many other organisations over the years. The organisation was renamed as Ross-Shire Voluntary Action in 2001. On the creation of Third Sector Interfaces, RVA continued to support community Organisations but commissioned by HTSI through Government Funding. In 2019 HTSI took the decision to take the services of RVA and Signpost, Inverness in house and to decommission the 2 organisations. This left us with our Community Transport Scheme and a determination to become an organisation which was more involved in the community. We changed our name, in 2020 to Community Support and Information, Ross-Shire and gave up residence in Thorfin House. After a few months of home working and some temporary lodgings in Strathpeffer Community Centre (many thanks to all there for taking us in) we were lucky to take up residence in Temperance House.
Our experience of working within the community during Covid 19 lockdown made us more determined to be community focussed. We are all looking forward to being a part of your community
